FAQ's

Sr. No Question
1   Question :  Can we select the status of candidates i.e. passed/failed/cancelled admitted within the course ?

No. the regular admitted candidates status can not be selected by the institute as they do not matter in vacancy calculations...Only backlog candidates status can be selected by the institute for the purpose of transfers. If institute does not select the status of backlog candidates as passed/1 ATKT, then candidate can not be transferred. The backlog candidates status are useful only for the purpose of branch change/transfers, they are not considered in directly in vacancy calculations.

2   Question :  what are the terminologies for vacancy calculations i.e. what is L,P,Admitted Within SI Etc . ?

SI-AICTE approved sanctioned intake for the course.
Admitted within SI-No. of candidates actually admitted in the course.(Merit list approved candidates by the regional office).
L-No. of Students who are shifted from the Institute to another institute and/or from the course to other course within institute for the Second Year.
P-No. of Students/Backlog Students who are shifted to the Institute from another institute and/or to the course from other course within institute for the Second Year.
Lateral Entry Seats(LE) -20% of sanctioned intake(SI), which will be over and above, supernumerary to the approved intake.
S-Vacant Seats for the course in the institute with addition of LATERAL ENTRY SEATS(IF S > 0).
So the formula is
S = SI-(Admitted within SI-L +P(including backlog students))+LE(20% of SI).

3   Question :  What is the change in vacancy calculation formula for this year AY 2017-18 as compared to last year 2016-17 ?

This year the status of regular candidates will not be considered for the vacancy calculations i.e. the no. of candidates admitted within SI for the year 2016-17 in first year engineering which are verified by the Regional office are all considered under vacancy calculations. So the formula for vacancy calculation becomes S = SI-(Admitted within SI-L +P(including backlog students))+LE(20% of SI)

4   Question :  What is the formula for vacancy calculations this year ?

The formula for vacancy calculation for AY 2017-18 for Direct Second Year Engineering is S = SI-(Admitted within SI-L +P(including backlog students))+LE(20% of SI)

5   Question :  How the branch change of regular admitted candidates in last year affect the vacancy calculation ?

For Regular Candidates admitted within SI for the previous year,If a candidate is transferred from COURSE X to COURSE Y through internal transfer/branch change OR external transfer, the vacancy of COURSE X will change i.e. The vacancy of COURSE X will be X=X+1 & the vacancy of COURSE Y will be Y=Y-1 after the branch change/transfers.

6   Question :  How to transfer backlog candidates ?

Institute need to select the status of back log candidates in the course list as Passed/1 ATKT..then the candidate becomes eligible for transfer and can be transferred.

7   Question :  Which back log candidates are eligible for branch changes/transfers ?

Backlog candidates with passed status/1 ATKT are allowed for branch change/transfers as per rule.

8   Question :  Are backlog candidates considered for the purpose of vacancy calculation ?

Backlog candidates candidates can be added for the purpose of transfers only.Backlog candidates will not be considered for vacancy calculations. However backlog candidates can be transferred from one course to another course through internal transfers/branch change OR one institute to another institute through external transfers/branch change. For Backlog Candidates, If a backlog candidate is transferred from COURSE X to COURSE Y through internal transfer/branch change OR external transfer, the vacancy of COURSE X will not change i.e. The vacancy of COURSE X will be X=X.
